Broadus Lee "B.L." Smith, 64, passed away Friday, August 1, 2008.
He was born in Harlan County, KY to the late Gardner W. Smith and Margaret Lawrence. He had served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam Era. He retired from Phillip Morris after more than 33 years of dedicated service and was a licensed horse trainer in the State of Kentucky.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Arthur Lawrence and brothers, Gardner Ray, Denver, Donald and G.B. Smith. He is survived by his children, Marklinn R. Smith, Brian L. Smith, Donna Felix and Mark Felix; grandchildren, Daniel Felix, Brandon Smith, Celeste Byrd, Amanda Byrd, Rebecca Smith and Joseph Smith; sisters, Etta Haney, Polly Mae Swanner, Doris McCombs (Eldredge) and Sheila K. Ireland (James); sister-in-law, Sue Smith; aunts and uncles, Richard Fugate (Imogene), Evelyn Belcher (Paul), James Fugate (Bev), Joe E. Fugate (Patty) and Sandy Fugate; and nieces and nephews. Raylee Lawrence, Steven Stith and Riva Callahan.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
