Bertha D. Saulnier, 88, formerly of Salem, NH and more recently of Londonderry, NH, died Sunday, August 3, 2008, at the Elliot Hospital after a short illness, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Saulnier was born on August 22, 1919 in Lawrence, Ma. She was predeceased by a sister, Irene Reissman, a daughter, Marie D. Saulnier, and her husband, Edmund J., to whom she was married for 66 years.
She graduated from Mount Carmel Catholic School in Methuen.
While raising her four children, she assisted her husband on the family farm in Salem. She spent years working at Simons Department Store, and the Arlington Trust Bank. Her hobbies include sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, baking and cooking wonderful meals for her large family. In her later years, she delighted in making quilts and afghans for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves her three sons, Robert E. and wife, Grace of E. Kingston, NH, Allan O. and wife, Madeline of Londonderry, NH, Russell and wife, Vivian, of Greenville, SC; six grandsons, Robert of Haverhill, MA, Mark and wife Vickie of Wrightsville, NC, Michael and wife, Donna, of Arlington, VA, Steven and wife Judith, of Londonderry, NH David and wife, Melody of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, and Eric and wife, Nicole, of Carmel Valley, CA; three granddaughters, Karen Cabral and husband, Manuel, of Pelham, NH, Laura Walker, of Londonderry, and Julie Gill and husband, Brian of Williamstown, MA; 20 great-grandchildren, and a brother-in-law, Bishop Theophilos of Richmond, VT.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 10:00am at Saint Jude’s Catholic Church, 435 Mammoth Road in Londonderry. Burial will be held at St. Patricks’s Cemetery in Lowell, MA. Memorial donations may be made to St. Theresa Healthcare Center, 519 Bridge St., Manchester, NH 03104-0059. Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
