Betty Thekla Hansen, 69, a lifelong resident of East Mansfield died on Monday August 4, 2008 in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her family and close friends.
Born in Attleboro, MA on August 25, 1938 she was a daughter of the late John K. and Emmy M. (Jensen) Hansen.
She grew up in Mansfield and was a 1956 graduate of Mansfield High School. She furthered her studies at the former Garland College, now Simmons College where she majored in early childhood development.
For the past 20 years Betty was employed as a Nursery Supervisor at Guerinni’s Landscaping & Nursery Co. in Mansfield. She had formerly worked at Lyon’s Greenhouses in Foxboro and as a Nursery School Teacher for Tiny Tots and the Head Start Program in Easton.
A member of the Covenant Congregational Church in North Easton, Betty was an ardent gardener who enjoyed creating floral arrangements. She loved to travel, was proud of her Danish heritage, enjoyed reading and especially loved being with family, friends and her cherished grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted sons Kaj Winslow and his wife Cara of East Wareham and Christian Cardosa and his wife Barbara of Mansfield. She was the sister of the late John Hansen and Karne Hansen-Carr, also survived by her 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday August 8th at 5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North main St. Mansfield. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held prior to the services on Friday August 8th from 3-5 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
