Barbara R. "Rusty" Payne

BILLERICA - Barbara R. "Rusty" (Wiswall) (Sickles) Payne, age 90, a resident of the River Street seniors community in Billerica, died peacefully Saturday, August 2, at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late William S. Sickles, and later, the late Robert W. Payne Sr.
She was born in Chelsea, MA on March 4, 1918, a daughter of the late Clifton and Myra (Smith) Wiswall. She lived the greater part of her life in Somerville and Arlington, before moving to Merrimac in her later years.
She retired after 37 years of service as a secretary and estimator for the Sprague-Hathaway picture frame company, located in Davis Square in Somerville.
She was active in the former Teal Square V.F.W. Post 6800, and had served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the chapter.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith Shultz of Randolph; three sons and four daughters-in-law, William and Katherine Sickles of Tewksbury, James and Barbara Sickles of AZ, Robert and Lynn Sickles of Stoneham, and Yvette Payne of Tewksbury; a sister, Virginia Twombly of Reading; a sister-in-law, Lindell Wiswall of TX; fifteen grandchildren, Thomas Sickles and his fiancee Allison Chatfield of Tewksbury, W. Lee Sickles and his wife Deborah of Groton, Christine Freitas and her husband Gary of Dracut, Cameron Sickles of Woburn, Jodi Sickles of AZ, Susan Shultz and her fiance Norman Towle of Woburn, Larry Shultz and his wife Kristen of Lynn, Ricky Shultz of Woburn, Robert Shultz and his wife Jodi of Manchester, NH, Clifford Shultz Jr. and his companion Nancy of Sagamore, Valerie Mapes of Lynn, Kenneth Savolainen of AZ, Pamela Brubaker of Pepperell, Todd Brubaker of East Boston, Robert T. Payne and his wife Jo'Ann of Tewksbury; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandson, Maynard; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also step-mother of Robert W. Payne Jr. and sister of the late Clifton Wiswall.
Her Funeral Service was held Wednesday, August 6, in the Funeral Home. Burial followed at Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac, MA. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 will be appreciated.
