Obituary

WORCESTER-Raymond T. Coonan, 72 of 22 Rydberg Terrace died Wednesday, December 26th in St. Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Alice B. (Mathieu) Coonan his son Donald R. Coonan of Oxford; 2 daughters Jane C. Hunt and Joyce E. Anderson both of Worcester; a brother Warren E. Coonan of Las Vegas, NV; a sister Marguerite Chiarelli of Fitchburg; 5 grandchildren, a great grandson, several nieces and nephews. 4 brothers, Herbert, Chester, Everett, and Robert Coonan and a sister, Shirley Coonan all predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester son of Herbert W. and Irma F. (Ellis) Coonan and lived here all his life. He was a graduate of Worcester Vocational High School. Mr. Coonan was a Korean War veteran serving in the Army. Mr. Coonan worked as a blade maker for the Thermal Electron Company in Auburn for 10 years retiring in 1991. Previously he was employed as a shipping manager at Standard Foundry Company in Worcester for 37 years. He was a member of St. Catherine of Sweden Church. He enjoyed woodworking.

The funeral will be held Monday, December 31st from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 1 Wiser Avenue. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, December 30th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
