Obituary

Harley LeRoy Moore, 90, of Moncks Corner, SC, a retired sales executive for New York Bell Phone Company, passed away Friday morning in a local nursing home.

Mr. Moore was born September 6, 1917 in San Diego, CA a son of Harley Albert Moore and Gladys Maydole Richmond. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton, CT. He attended Dartmouth College and Blue Mountain College. After retiring from New York Bell, Mr. Moore served as an interpreter at the University of Connecticut Museum of Ships at the Mystic Seaport.

Surviving are a daughter, Leslie M. Head and her husband Ronnie of Moncks Corner; two sons, Douglas Eliot Moore and his wife Fran of Ipswich, MA and Harley Hastings Moore and his wife Janice of Hartsville, SC; 7 grandchildren, Christy Glover, Douglas Wright, Peter Wright, Thane Moore Tiffany Johnson, Ashley Moore, and Jessica Moore, and 7 great-grandchildren.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday from 3-5pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, Groton on Wednesday at 11am. Burial will follow at Noank Valley Cemetery.
