Plymouth-Esther M. Mackenzie 93 formerly of Hanson died Thursday July 31st after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Kenneth MacKenzie retired Chief of Police in Hanson.
Born and raised in Duxbury she was the daughter of the late Earl and Bernice (Randall) Jones, and a graduate of Duxbury High School.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Casper’s in Plymouth for many years.
She had been a resident of Hanson for more than 60 years and was a member of the Friends of the Congregational Church of Hanson, and honorary member of the Maid & Matrons.
Esther along with her husband, spent many hours volunteering at the Plymouth County Hospital in Hanson.
She is survived by her sons Robert MacKenzie of Weymouth and Richard MacKenzie and his wife Maureen of Hanson, her grandchildren Jamie MacKenzie-Edgerly of Whitman and Linsey MacKenzie-Brown of Hanson, her great grandsons Cale and Brent Edgerly, and her nephew Arthur Bennett, Jr.. She was the sister of the late Ruth Bennett.
Family and friends are invited to share in a graveside service to be held Friday August 8th at 10AM in the Fern Hill Cemetery, High Street, Hanson.
