John R. Cugini, 77 of Medway died July 30 in his home following a long illness. He was the husband of Rose A. (Trinchera) Cugini.
Born in Newton, September 28, 1930, the son of the late Carlo and Antonetta (Mazzola) Cugini, Mr. Cugini had lived in Medway for the past 43 years.
Mr. Cugini had been the owner of Keystone mason contractors in Medway for many years and he did work throughout the Metro West area.
Mr. Cugini also worked with Advantage Construction Company of Medway.
Mr. Cugini loved to make things, he was very “handy” and he loved to look back at the things that he built.
Mr. Cugini served in the Army during the Korean War as a Private First Class.
He was a life member of the Medway VFW.
He enjoyed fishing and golfing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, John C. Cugini of Newton and Daniel J. Cugini of Clemmons, North Carolina.
He is also survived by his daughter, Rosemarie Cugini of Bellingham.
He is survived by his sisters, Antoinette Whiting of Newton and Carmella Grossi of Everett and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Stephen, Alicia and Jessica.
He was the brother of the late Albert, Louis and Lawrence Cugini and Pauline Grossi and Lucy Cugini.
His funeral will be held on Monday, August 4 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4-8 p.m.
