Liscomb, M. Virginia, of Marshfield, July 29, at the age of 85. Wife of the late Russell Liscomb of Maine and the late Gordon Surette of New Hampshire. Dear mother of Elise B. Lyons and her husband Robert of Marshfield and Constance Surette of Plymouth. Loving grandmother of Robert Lyons, Jr. and his wife Kristin of Hampton, N.H., John Lyons and his wife Vera of Quincy and Sarah Surette of Marshfield. Loving great grandmother of Catherine, Megan, Emma and Abby. Sister of the late Walter E. Taylor. Sister-in-law of Thurly Taylor of Ocala, FL. Also survived by 2 nephews, 1 niece and their families. Virginia was born in Ocala, FL. and graduated from Ocala High School and Bryant and Stratton Business School in Boston. She was a newspaper reporter in Ocala, Fl. were she interviewed Helen Keller and Marjorie Rawlings, the author of the Yearling. She also was a reporter for the Associated Press in New York. Virginia was the first female radio operator during WW II. and in later years she was an accountant for Berkley Finance Company in Boston. Her hobbies were to make her own clothes, beautiful and unusual quilts and she loved gardening. Two of Virginia’s quilts were donated for raffle to the First Congregational Church in Marshfield and 1 quilt was donated to the Alden House in Duxbury. She was a former member of the American Legion in Gray, ME., and attended the First Congregational Church of Marshfield. A memorial service was held on Sunday August 3, in the First Congregational Church of Marshfield 1981 Ocean St. Rev. Susan Thornton officiated.
