Arthur J. Lortie, Jr., 57, of Plainville formerly of Mansfield died on Tuesday July 29, 2008 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Judith L. (Arner) Lortie to whom he was wed to on May 8, 1976.
Born in Attleboro, MA on August 6, 1950 he was a loving son of the late Arthur J. and Emily L. (Cutillo) Lortie, Sr.
He grew up in Mansfield, was educated in Mansfield Public Schools and was a 1968 graduate of Mansfield High School. Upon graduation he served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.
Mr. Lortie worked for the past 40 years in the shipping and receiving department at the former Foxboro Co. in Foxboro and stayed with the company after it sold and was renamed Invensys.
Arthur was a sports fanatic. He played several sports in high school and was a former member of the Foxboro Co. men’s softball league. He was truly the number one fan of the New England Patriots.
He loved spending time with his loving family and taking day trips with his beloved wife Judy. He had made his home in Plainville for the past 32 years and was former native of Mansfield.
In addition to his beloved wife of over 32 years he is survived by his devoted daughter Janelle A. Long of North Attleboro, his brother Robert F. Lortie of Mansfield. He was the brother in law of Edward Arner and his wife Anne of Taunton and Janice Chaves and her husband Joseph of Saugus. He was the son in law of Ruth Arner of Attleboro and the late Willard Arner. He was the loving uncle of Christopher Arner and his wife Vicki of Attleboro, Katie Arner of Canton and Olivia Chaves and Eric Chaves both of Saugus and the great uncle of Carly Ruth Arner, also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday August 2nd at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday August 1st from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
