John R. Risdon of Medford, formerly of Dana Point, California, died at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury on Sunday, July 27, 2008, following a lengthy illness. He was 58 years old.
Born in Malden, Massachusetts, on August 29, 1949, he was a beloved son of Robert H. and the late Theresa E. (Condon) Risdon. John was a graduate Medford High School, class of 1967. He entered the Marines on October 2, 1969 and received his honorable discharge on July 2, 1975. For his service in the Marines, John received the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He also attained the rank of Lance Corporal. Mr. Risdon was a former teacher of Karate and had worked for several years as manager for a store in California. He was a free spirit, always trying new things at a moments notice.
His funeral service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 10 AM.
