Therese E. Murray, 88, formerly of Privilege St., Woonsocket, died Monday at The Holiday in Manville. She was the wife of the late Napoleon Lavoie who died in 1947, and the late Leo Murray, who died in 1976.
Born in St. Justine, P.Q., Canada, she was a daughter of the late Evode and Maria (Fournier) Bizier. She came to the United States as a child, and resided in Fall River for over 40 years, East Providence for 15 years, and lived in Woonsocket for over 30 years.
Mrs. Murray was employed as a bus driver for the East Providence School Dept. for 15 years. She also worked for the Winfield Dress Shop, Woonsocket Dress, and Art Garment for many years before retiring in 1981.
Therese was a member of the Royal Travelers and the AARP of Woonsocket. She enjoyed dressmaking, crocheting, knitting, and needlepoint. Therese shared her talent for cake baking by creating many memorable and delicious cakes for her family and friends. She also volunteered her time at the Epheta retreat house in Cumberland.
She is survived by a son, Paul Lavoie, and his wife Lorraine, of Woonsocket, and a grandson, David Lavoie, and his wife Nicole, of Harrisville. She was the sister of Anita Dumont, of Fall River, Emilienne Roy, of Maine, Georgette Boucher, of FL., and the late Roland, Arthur, and Louis Bizier, Anseleme Audet, Bernadette Gendron, and Fernande Boutin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be Thursday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in All Saints Church, Rathbun St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5-8 pm.
