Obituary

Paul E. Harris, a member of the Mashantucket Pequot Western Tribal Nation, went home to be with the Lord on July 25th.

He was born in New London on May 4, 1946 the son of Paul E. Johnson Jr. and Marion M. Red Feather Curry. He was raised in New London where he attended and graduated from local schools. He later proudly served in the U.S. Navy.

Known for his appreciation of fine music, Paul was blessed to teach at the Juilliard School of Music and enjoyed performing with many of the top bands in the United States.

A respected member of the Mashantucket Pequot Western Tribal Nation, he was also a member of the Elder's Council. He also served as Executive Director of Foxwoods Entertainment where he was responsible for bringing in top talents from around the world.

He is survived by his children, Paul E. Harris Jr., Christina Harris, and Gabriel Harris; his siblings, Chief Pedro J. Silver Wolf Johnson, Laughing Woman Patrick (Spiritual Leader), Marion Hatcher (Standing She Bear), and War Chief Stanley Standing Oak Harris Jr., and a host of extended family. He was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara and Jean.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 5-7pm. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday at 2pm at the funeral home. (Guests are requested to arrive no later than 1:45pm).

Burial with military honors will follow at the Mashatucket Pequot Tribal Burial Ground.

Paul's family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mashantucket Pequot Spiritual Center, ATTN: Judy Bell, Chairperson of the Board.
