WESTPORT - Jean (McKnight) Manchester, 79, of Westport died July 27, 2008 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Raymond E. Manchester.
Born and raised in New Bedford, daughter of the late William and Annie (Simpson) McKnight, she had lived in Westport for the last 22 years. Prior to retirement, she was a customer service representative in the financial industry. She was a member of the Westport Womans Club. Jean was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed board games and bridge with friends and family in later years. A devoted mother, wife and sister, she will be missed for her strength, her conviction and spirit in the face of adversity.
Survivors include a son: Scott A. Manchester of Dartmouth; a daughter: Nancy L. Manchester of Westport; a sister: Doris Sanford of Westport; a brother: Harold J. McKnight of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren: Benjamin Aubin, Noelle Aubin, Graham Squires and Ian Squires; 2 great grandchildren: Samuel Aubin and Calista Aubin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late William S. McKnight.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, July 31, 2008 at the Westport Point United Methodist Church, 1912 Main Rd., Westport Point at 11:00 A.M.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5 - 8 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
