Obituary

Salem: Roger W. L’Italien age 88 of Salem, died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Center in Salem. He was the husband of the late Edith V. (Lee) L’Italien.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late William and Lucie (Bernard) L’Italien. A veteran of W.W. II, he served with the Navy in the South Pacific aboard the USS Shangrila. Following the war, Roger returned to Salem, and worked as a carpenter for Union Local #26. During his career, he worked for Connolly Brothers Construction Company of Beverly. Roger retired in 1982 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 76 and the VFW Post 1524 both of Salem, the Vittori-Rocci Post of Beverly and the Peabody Council on Aging.
He is survived by 3 daughters: Mary Ann Hunt of Salem, Elizabeth Pietrocatella of Fall River, Patricia M. L’Italien of Andover, 2 sons: Brian R. L’Italien and his wife Theresa of Salem and David W. L’Italien, a brother Wallace L’Italien and his wife Mary of Salem. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his long time companion Joyce Langone of Wakefield. Roger was predeceased by 3 brothers: Hector, Robert & Leo L’Italien.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 10:30 am in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem. Visiting hours will precede his service on Thursday from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
