Mrs. Paula Jean Moccia, 60 of Medford died Saturday in the Jewish Recuperative Center in Swampscott. She is the wife of Jerry Moccia, retired Medford Police officer, with whom she shared more than 31 years of marriage.
Mrs. Moccia was born in Boston, daughter of Paula (Lovasco) Carcia of Medford and the late Paul Carcia. A graduate of Medford High School, class of 1965, she continued her education at Suffolk University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern University in 1994.
She worked as a Network Administrator, employed by Cambridge Trust Company in the computer technology division. In earlier years she had worked as a court stenographer and as an office manager for the Kassler & Feuer Law firm. An active member of the Santa Maria Lodge of Medford, she served in several capacities, including President in 1984. She aspired to national levels serving officially as 3rd Vice President of the Sons of Italy, later as National Recording Secretary. In her position, she was invited to dine with the Clintons during their years in the White House. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by one daughter: Corie Cunha and her husband Sebastian of Wakefield, one son: Mark Moccia and his wife Holly of Barrington, NH. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford on Tuesday at 9:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
