Lisa Gail “Lee” Meredith Burns, 43, formerly of Louisville, lost her battle with colon cancer Wednesday, July 23, 2008 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Milltown, Indiana. She was a licensed funeral director in Kentucky, and served her apprenticeship at Owen Funeral Home. Before that she had worked at Jefferson County District Court. She gave that up to be a full-time mom. She was Catholic by faith and attended Hillview Christian Church in Marengo, IN. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Robert Anderson Ellington and her dad, John Turner. Survivors include her husband of 13 years, Michael L.; daughter Madison McKenzie “Madi” and Mason Michael “Jar” Burns; her mother and best friend, Phyllis Turner; father, Howard Meredith; brother, David Meredith; grandmother, Geneva “Boo Boo” Ellington Owens; grandparents, Harry and Margaret Meredith; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Andrea, Kade, T.J. and Christopher; brothers and sisters-in-law, Debbie (Ed), Donna (Dave), Bunny (Chuck) and Chris. Other family members include her Auntie Pam and Aunt Diane; cousins, Brandi (Chris), Conner, Kyle (Kim) and KyLee. Lots of friends, including Teresa, Cheri and Michelle, for whom our family will be forever grateful for the help and support they gave us. Lisa’s family would like to thank Dr. Wayne Tuckson, Dr. Charles Scoggins, Dr. Thomas Woodcock, Dr. Thomas McKain and the girls at Louisville Oncology in Corydon for the caring and professional manner in which Lisa was treated. Her funeral will be noon Monday at Hillview Christian Church, 4180 E. State Road 64, Marengo, IN. Burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8pm Saturday and 12-8pm Sunday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway and after 10am Monday at church.
