John P. Doherty, Sr. of Stoneham passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the Winchester Hospital. He was 69 years of age.
Born in Everett, John was the loving son of the late Neal and Ann Doherty. John was a warm and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed.
John was dedicated to his family. He was a loving Papa to his dog Clancy. During the Viet Nam War, John proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Army. John was a superintendent of Keyspan for 40 years.
John was the Beloved husband of Christel M. (Nieschalk) Doherty. He was the devoted father of Kathleen Racki and her husband Dan of Groveland, Charlotte Doherty of NH, Neal Doherty of Hull and John Doherty, Jr. and his wife Shelley of Tewksbury. John was the Cherished grandfather of sixteen and one great grandchild. He was the dear brother of two brothers and one sister.
Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM Friday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating John’s life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours, Thursday 4-9 pm. Parking attendants will be available. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
