Gilberte (Blais) Surprenant, 95, of Dartmouth, died July 21, 2008 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. She was the wife of the late Edward Surprenant.
Born in Bic, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late Joseph and Leontine (Lavoie) Blais, she lived in Dartmouth for most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.
Mrs. Surprenant was formerly a self-employed seamstress, and had also worked at Blue Ribbon Laundry and the New Bedford Hotel.
Survivors include a son, Roger E. Surprenant, and his wife Charlotte, of Dartmouth; a sister, Mariange Gauthier of Quebec; her beloved niece, Suzanne Walsh; two grandchildren, Kim DaCosta and Jana-lyn Cambronero; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, and Christopher DaCosta, Taela Surprenant, Caeden Berube, Anjaelise and Jaelen Cambronero; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the great-grandmother of the late Jaecen Cambronero.
