George M. Stevenson, of Plaistow, NH died Saturday at the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, MA. He was 73 years old.
Mr. Stevenson was born in Methuen, MA and grew up and was educated in Lawrence, MA graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1948. He moved to Salem, NH in 1961 and lived there for 40 years before moving to Plaistow to live with his son 3 years ago.
He served his country in the US Army as a communications specialist in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean War. Mr. Stevenson was a Section Chief at Western Electric in North Andover, MA before his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Mr. Stevenson owned the World of Pine, which did custom framing and woodworking and the former Picture Place. He was an avid musician, playing the piano and guitar. He was an avid card player participating in numerous 45’s tournaments throughout the Merrimack Valley.
His wives Eileen B. (Quinn) Stevenson and Joan Marie (Phillips) Stevenson and his son George Stevenson predeceased him.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 10 AM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH. Family and friends may visit Saturday from 9-10 AM. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen, MA.
