New Bedford – Virginia (Tavares) Costa aged 70 years, passed away unexpectedly Saturday July 19, 2008. She was the mother of Lawrence ”Larry” Costa and Debra Brecken of New Bedford and Dana who is married to Terin Costa of Fairhaven. She was the grandmother of Roxanne Costa and her companion Jorge Lafountaine of New Bedford. She was the loving great-grandmother of Alexis Lafountaine. She was the companion of Irene Freitas of New Bedford. She is predeceased by several brothers and sisters. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Costa was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all of her life. She was a daughter of Gaudino and Mary (Simas) Tavares. Mrs. Costa was employed as a manager of Knight and Look Campground in Rochester and enjoyed camping at that facility.
Mrs. Costa’s Funeral will be Wednesday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., at 9:45 A.M., followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart Church at 11 A.M. Visiting hours will be Tuesday Evening from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited.
