Obituary

James F. Blandino, of Burlington, MA died Thursday July 17th of a brief illness at the age of 81.

James was a graduate of Medford High School, attended MIT and was proud to have been a US Army Veteran of WW II. He was a member of the Woburn Tennis Club and VFW Post 2346.

James was the oldest son of James and Constance Blandino of Medford and is survived by his devoted wife Jeanette of Burlington, his brother Vincent Blandino and wife Mildred of Lynnfield and sister JoAnn and husband Paul Morency of Winchester. He was the doting father of James Blandino, Jr. and his wife Mary Fitzpatrick of Ferrisburg, VT, Linda Blandino and husband Steven Parris of Lynn and Norma Lee of Methuen. He also had three grandchildren, Allison Blandino, James Lee, Sinceree Moore, Allison Blandino and four great grandchildren. He will be missed by his cousins, nieces and the numerous good friends he collected and treasured along his way.

Jim Loved life and was involved in many activities as an avid tennis player, a smooth dancer, t tenacious bridge partner and bowler, and ocean pleasure boater. He appreciated a good dinner and lively conversation with his family whom he cherished openly.

Jimmy was involved in several family ventures, from working pushcarts in Haymarket Square, as a butcher in his father’s market in Medford and owner of a sub shop with his brother in Cambridge. His career culminated in 30 years of work at GTE Sylvania Lighting Division in Ipswich where he received 7 patent awards for Innovations and Design.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Tuesday at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be sent in James’ name to The Salvation Army, 147 Berkley St., Boston, MA 02116.
