SHREWSBURY/WEBSTER - Theresa K. (Kirwin) Small, 96, formerly of Westborough and Webster, died Friday, July 18, in Shrewsbury Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Her husband of 56 years, Clayton W. Small, died in 1991.
She leaves 2 sons, Jonathan K. Small of Shrewsbury and Stephen W. Small of Worcester; a daughter, Linda D. Hevenor of Hamilton; a brother, William Kirwin; 2 sisters, Catherine Ferrie and Barbara Ann Leconto, all of Worcester; 5 grandchildren, Rebecca, Amy, Laura, Ashley and Daniel Small; 2 great grandchildren, Katie and Connor; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Bradford E. Small of Revere, in 2003.
She was born and raised in Worcester, a daughter of John “Joe” and Ruby Mae (Cleveland) Kirwin. She lived in Shrewsbury for 20 years, Westborough for 27 years, and Webster for several years before returning to Shrewsbury. She attended North High School in Worcester.
Mrs. Small was a teacher at the Congregational Church Nursery School in Shrewsbury for several years and then at Mrs. Allen’s Nursery School in Westborough for 27 years. She retired in 1991.
She was a member of the Church of the Reconciliation in Webster. She was a former member of Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Westborough, where she served on the altar guild.
Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, July 24, in the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster. A funeral service will be held at 7:30 PM during the calling hours.
