TEWKSBURY: Tony J. Capinellie, age 57, a recent resident of Tewksbury, formerly of Stockton, CA, died Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born in Lynn on March 26, 1951, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Bertha A. (Dufault) Petelis.
Tony was raised in Lynn, MA and Torrington, CT, where he attended local schools.
He resided in Epping and Exeter, New Hampshire for several years then moved back to Stockton, CA until recently moving to Tewksbury.
Prior to his illness, Tony was employed as a sub-contract truck driver by the U.S. Postal Service in Stockton, CA and for the McMillan Transport Company in Manchester, New Hampshire.
According to his family, a major influence in Tony’s life was his dedicated service to the Alcoholics Anonymous Organization as a 20 year member, councilor and sponsor.
He was a former member of the American Legion Post # 1000 of San Francisco, CA.
Tony loved many activities especially caring for his dog “Ginger” and being on the open road driving tractor trailer trucks.
Tony is survived by five sisters, Caroline B. MacInnes of Exeter, NH, Nancy A. Duncan of Quincy, Judy A. Belles of Swampscott, Sheila J. Petelis of Revere and Susan M. Glennon of Tewksbury; two brothers, Raymond J. Petelis of Colombus, OH and Gerald R. Petelis of Lynn; also many nieces, nephews and extended family members including Cal and Linda Williamson of Stockten, CA.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 21st, from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. A prayer service celebrating Tony’s life will be offered during the calling hours at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
