Scott C. Rice, 44, of Manchester, NH, died Thursday, July 17, 2008 in the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH from injuries received in an automobile/wheelchair accident. Mr. Rice was born in Alexandria, VA on August 31, 1963, a son of Lindsey F. and Barbara J. (Bauldauf) Rice. He was a resident of Manchester for the past several years, formerly living in Chester, NH. Mr. Rice was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, class of 1984. While at Pinkerton, he was a member of the Future Farmers of America, and had won trips to Kansas City, MO and Chicago, IL. He attended NH College, and was a member of the Rockingham County 4H Club. Mr. Rice was an amateur HAM radio operator and had co-authored a book of emergency frequencies. He was recently appointed to the State of NH Executive Council on 911. While living in Chester, Mr. Rice had served 20 years on the Chester Planning Board, and several times had served as Chairman.
He is survived by his parents, Lindsey and Barbara Rice of Chester; his brother, Lindsey Rice, II and his wife Susan of Barrington, NH; his niece, Ammy Rice of Barrington; and his nephew, Christopher Rice of Barrington.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 31st at 11:00am in the Chester Congregational-Baptist Church, Chester St., Chester. In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to Granite State Independent Living, 1850 Elm St., Suite 1, Manchester, NH 03104. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
