Obituary

Mrs. Mary Patton Miller was born on February 4, 1914 in Madison County to the late Mr. James Patton and Mariah Weaver. She departed this life on July 17, 2008 at Huntsville Hospital.

Mary confessed hope in Christ at an early age and later moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where she joined Greater Friendship Primitive Baptist Church under the Reverend James Penney. She attended there until she moved back to Huntsville, Alabama and joined the Saint James Primitive Baptist Church under Reverend Billy Jones.

Mary was joined in holy matrimony to the late Charlie Miller, Sr. and they were happily married until his death. She was preceded in death by her daughter Hattie Bell Scruggs Powell, and two sisters, Eddie Lee Patton Fletcher of Madison, Alabama and Bobbie Mae Patton of Huntsville, Alabama.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: a devoted daughter, Willie Mae Sales; one devoted son, Charlie (Shelvie) Miller, Jr., both of Huntsville, Alabama; six grandchildren, Reverend Samuel (Yolanda) Sales of Dayton, Ohio, James Edward (Sandra) Powell II, Gwendolyn P. Ezeanie, Harry James (Rose) Powell, Andrea B. Tobias and Olympia O. Miller all of Huntsville, Alabama; ten great grandchildren, nine great-great grandch8ldren and a myriad of family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Patton Miller will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 from the Saint James Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Billy Jones officiating and Reverend James Penney as Eulogist. Interment will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens. The remains of Mrs. Patton will be in the church one hour prior to funeral time.
