Obituary

Helen Rose Horvath, died Wednesday at home. Her husband of 65 years, Frank X. Horvath, died in 2000

Born Nov. 11, 1917, in Throop, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Berlinski Bielowski, she attended Dickson City public schools. Helen was an active member of the PTA and a founding member of the Confraternity of Christian Women at Holy Ghost Church, Olyphant, where she volunteered until age 88. She was employed at Fafnir Co. while living in New Britain, Conn., and later worked at Billig Shoe Manufacturing, Peckville, and the Globe Store.

Helen loved visiting with people and her home was always welcoming with delicious food for everyone. She especially enjoyed Tuesday evenings, which she spent at a sewing club with her two best friends that continued for more than 50 years. Her greatest love was for her children and grandchildren, whom she cared for tirelessly, her home and her garden, which was filled with beautiful roses. She passed away peacefully at home in the loving care of her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Rita Stella, Jessup; and Rose Edwards, Anaheim Hills, Calif.; two sons, Frank X., Tallahasse, Fla.; and Joseph, Olyphant; two loving sisters, Eleanor Augustyn, Farmington, Conn.; and Mae Dziadowicz, New Britain; six grandchildren, Kimberly Traylor, Glenn, Joseph and Phillip Horvath, Scott and Dina Stella; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be Saturday from the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, to be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Muldowney, pastor. Interment, Holy Ghost Cemetery Olyphant.
