Laconia-Normand R. “Bud” Richard, 81, of 45 Anthony Drive died Thursday afternoon, July17, 2008 at St. Francis Healthcare Center after a brief battle with cancer.
Bud was born in Laconia on January 31, 1927 the son of the late Omer and Angelina (LeClerc) Richard. He had been a lifelong resident of Laconia.
Bud attended Laconia High School for two years. He then joined the United States Navy to serve his country during WWII, and upon his return home completed his high school education graduating from Tilton Prep.
Prior to his retirement in 1974 he was the proprietor of Bud’s Market on North Main Street, now known as North Country Deli.
Bud’s passion was golf, playing many courses during his lifetime. He was past President of the Board of Directors at the Laconia Country Club. He was a member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks #876, and the American Legion Wilkins-Smith Post 1. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia.
Bud is survived by his wife of 33 years, Phyllis Ann (LaPierre) Richard of Laconia; his daughter, Susan C. DeLemus and her husband Jerry of Rochester; his sister, Pauline F. Richard of Laconia; his cousins, Julian Richards and his wife Paula of Laconia, Roger and Theresa Gagne of Gilford, and Gloria Krukonis and her husband Norm of Hampton. Many other cousins, family members, and dear friends also survive Bud.
Visiting hours were on Sunday July 20, 2008 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia. Reverend Gary J. Kosmowski pastor of the church was the celebrant. Burial with military honors followed in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street.
