Obituary

Mr. Maurice A. Long, 73, of 125 Main Street in Gorham, NH passed away on Thursday morning at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. He was born in Berlin on August 25, 1934 the son of Edmond and Bertha (Lavoie) Long and lived most of his life in the Berlin and Gorham area. Mr. Long attended Notre Dame High School and was a veteran of the US Navy. He had been self employed as a Barber for many years, then worked for Granite State, Converse Rubber Company and prior to his retirement worked for Crown Vantage. He was a member of the Dupont-Holmes Post 82 of the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fly tying, woodworking and golfing.

Members of his family include his wife Patricia (Joudrey) Long of Gorham, NH; two daughters Cynthia Knight and her husband Clifford of Norway, ME and Louise Long of South Paris, ME; two sons Paul Long and his wife Carolyn of Springfield, VT and Donald Long and his wife Susan of Hemet, CA; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three step-children;four step grandsons; nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Alice Caouette.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held on Monday morning at 10:00 AM on July 28, 2008 at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade Street in Gorham, NH. Interment will be in the Lary Cemetery in Gorham. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
