Obituary

Beulah Winters, 105, Clarksville, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Gateway Medical Center. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Rev. Forest Suddeath officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from noon until the hour of the service Sunday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born April 26, 1903 in Cheatham County, daughter of the late R.W. Ellis and Mai Leona Craig Ellis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raleigh Edward Winters; three sons, Carlton Winters, Talmadge Winters, and Paul Winters;a grandson, Gary Winters; and brothers and sisters: Willie Ellis, R.W. Ellis, Turner Ellis, Harris Ellis, Charles Ellis, Lula Mai Wilson, Olivia Hunter, and Cornelia Arvelia. She was a homemaker and childcare provider in her home. She never met a baby that she didn't want to rock and sing to. She was a wonderful example with her sense of humor and attitude. She was a member of Madison Street Church of Christ and a charter member of Stroudsville Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, Billy Winters (Gloria), Clarksville; and Wendell Winters (Barbara), Gifford, IL; a daughter, Joyce Hawkins (Gordon), Clarksville; eighteen grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren, and sixteen great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Talmadge "Skip" Winters, Mark Hawkins, Ted Mosier, Steve Winters, Jimmy Henry, Dan Winters and Jimmy Winters.
