Cafasso, Peter age 87 of North Bergen died Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Beloved husband for 64 years of Rose (nee) Boungiorno. Devoted father of Peter, Rosemary, Alberta and the late Umberto and Bert. Caring father-in-law of Mary Cafasso. Dear brother of Charles and the late Sam and Lea Cinquino. Loving grandfather of Jeannine Diamond and her husband Craig, Matthew Salandra, Lauren, Christopher and Caitlyn Cafasso. Cherished great grandfather of Brittany and Jason Diamond. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Peter was employed by the North Bergen Police Dept. from 1945 until his retirement in 2007. He rose to the rank of detective and served as the police photographer. He was a man of many talents and was the owner of the Bergen Sweet Shop and PECO Builders. He was a US Navy Veteran of WW II having served on the USS Nicholas 449. He was also a Charter Member of the Democratic Mid Town Club of North Bergen and a Member of the Cliffside Park Men’s Club. Funeral from the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Rd., Teaneck on Saturday at 9 AM then to the Madonna Chapel, Fort Lee for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Entombment in the Madonna Mausoleum will follow. Family and friends are invited to visit Friday 2-4 & 7-9PM.
