Ann Elizabeth Hagan – Organization Consultant/Photographer [Alexandria, Annapolis and Ocean View, Delaware] died on July 13 of leukemia after a courageous battle.
Born on February 17, 1944 in Providence, Rhode Island, Ann grew up in Wellesley, Mass and graduated from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana in 1966.
After a stint working with the Girls Scouts in the Detroit area, Ann returned to the Boston area to work with a consulting firm addressing civil rights and diversity issues. While there Ann graduated from Suffolk Law School in 1975 and remained active in Suffolk Law alumni activities following graduation.
In 1976 Ann accepted a role at Booz Allen Hamilton’s Washington, D.C. office. In l985, Ann co-founded the organization consulting firm of Cavanaugh, Hagan & Pierson, Inc. in Washington, D.C. Her practice provided management counsel to corporations and nonprofit organizations. During this period, Ann also developed her artistic interests in photography – traveling and studying with experts to develop her special talent.
Despite a grim diagnosis in 2000, Ann fought bone marrow cancer with amazing tenacity, grit and grace under pressure. Under the care of Dr. Stephen Core at the Kimmel Center at Johns Hopkins Ann beat the odds for 8 years. Ann lived life with special zest for her management consulting, executive coaching, and world travels in connection with her passion for photography - traveling to the Japan, China, Thailand, New Zealand, Turkey, Italy, and the US.
In 2006 Ann married Allen Durling and they enjoyed every day to the fullest with each other and their many devoted friends and family members…sharing their wide range of interests.
Ann leaves her loving husband, Allen of Annapolis, Maryland and her sisters Arline Saturdayborn of Portland, ME, Kathleen Hagan of Watertown, MA and three nephews, William, Robert, David and niece, Caitlin Whelan.
It would be Ann’s desire that donations support Dr. Gore’s research which involves fixing broken genes to cure cancer and turning on genes to make cells act more normal. Funeral from the George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home 477 Washington St. (RT 16) Wellesley. Saturday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass in St John the Evangelist Church, Wellesley Hills at 10 AM.
