Obituary

Mrs. Flora V. Dillard was born on April 1919 in Woodville, AL. She peacefully departed this earthly life on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at her residence.

She was the daughter of Callie Noble and Arron Hudgins, who both preceded her in death, she was also preceded by her loving husband Homer “Pete” Dillard, a daughter Janice Snodgrass and granddaughter McCallie Nix and a great granddaughter Darrella Snodgrass.

Mrs. Flora or Mama Flo, as she was fondly known, accepted Christ as Her personal savior at an early age and united with the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Woodville, Alabama under the leadership of Pastor Alfred Pleasure, Sr.

She was educated in the Woodville School System and later moved to Scottsboro, AL. During her younger years, she worked as a housekeeper for many, many years at private homes. The one she loved the most was the Bridges, she enjoyed listening to music and dancing and telling everybody to stay out of her flower gardens and watching TV (Golden Girls). When her strength got worse you could always hear her humming “I’m Going Through”. She was loved by so many people and she was a good and dedicated church member and also a mother of the church. She would usher no matter where it was or what the cause.

Her memory will forever cherished and she will always be missed by her loved ones. They are, her seven sons, Larry (Kathy); Johnny, Robert, Leroy (Diane), James, Billy, David (Ann); three daughters, Evelyn (Clarence), Connie Middleton and Undrea Dillard all of Scottsboro; one sister Edna Prince Cunningham of South Pittsburgh, TN; devoted god sister, Sytira Porter of Chicamaugh, GA; one special cousin, Ann Craft; a god son, Leon Robinson; god daughter, Sharee Robinson; twins and Dee Green, a special friend, Kenneth Kelley, twenty-eight grandchildren; three special grandchildren, Tiyree, Tykon and Consuella; twenty great grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-laws, Elmarene Dillard, Mary Bibbs both of Scottsboro; Helen Dillard and Nancy of Huntsville; brother-in-laws Johnny, Handy, James, two sons-in-law, Jessie Snodgrass and Reginald Middleton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends the The Robinsons and Kathlene Jenkins, Henry Lattimer.

Funeral services for Ms. Flora Dillard will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2008 from the Saint Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Alfred Pleasure officiating. Interment will be in Woodville Cemetery. The Dillard family will receive family and friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008 from the Saint Elizabeth M. B. Church in Scottsboro, AL. The remains of Ms. Dillard will be in the church one hour prior to funeral time.
