John Paul "Jack" McCarthy, age 69, died Friday, July 11, 2008, surrounded by his family at home after an extended illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary Jane (Donahue) with whom he celebrated his 48th wedding anniversary last October 25th. He was born April 28, 1939, and was raised in Tewksbury, a son of the late John E. and Mary E. (Gath) McCarthy.
Besides being a family man, he loved farming in various locations throughout Tewksbury, boating in the summer, snowmobiling in the winter, country music, and antique autos. He had traveled the east coast in his R.V. He was a member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Lodge of Elks.
In addition to being survived by his wife, he leaves his daughters and sons-in-law; Theresa and Kevin Walsh of Tewksbury, Lisa and William Mellen of Nashua, NH, Paula and Mike Robson of Londonderry, NH, Lynda and Andrew LeClair of Tyngsborough, Cisa and Robert Mulligan of Strafford, NH; sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Deborah McCarthy of Sanford, ME, Chuck and Molly McCarthy of Gilford, NH; a sister, Elizabeth Gervais of Tewksbury; a brother, Harold McCarthy of Tewksbury; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Janet and James Calder of Tyngsborough, John and Diane Donahue of Hernando, FL, 23 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the brother-in-law of the late Roland Gervais of Tewksbury.
His funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, July 15, in St. Williams Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at the Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorial contributions made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 20 Walnut Street, Suite 318, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481, are appreciated.
