WILMINGTON: Olive E. (Forrest) MacQuarrie, age 84, a resident of Wilmington for 45 years, died peacefully at home on Friday, July 11, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, after a period of declining health.
She was the loving wife of Archie D. MacQuarrie, who died July 9, 1997.
Born in Boston on October 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late George and Gertrude (Frye) Forrest.
Mrs. MacQuarrie was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School.
She resided in Somerville until moving to Wilmington in 1963.
Following her marriage, she dedicated her life to caring for her family.
Mrs. MacQuarrie was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and was a member and past co-president of the Wilmington Garden Club.
In addition, she loved to read, sew, travel with her family and late husband to Disney World, California and Canada, and according to her family she was a “tremendous cook and baker”.
She is survived by her children, Richard A. MacQuarrie of Wilmington, Catherine E. MacQuarrie of Wilmington, Joanne MacQuarrie of Lebanon, NH, Sheryl Hurley and her husband David of Wilmington and Patricia Glaser and her husband Carl of Woburn; two grandsons, Richard D. MacQuarrie of Dorchester and Carl A. Glaser of Woburn; one sister-in-law, Lois Forrest of Dacula, GA; also many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mrs. MacQuarrie was the sister of the late Dorothy Day, Edwin and Donald Forrest and grandmother of the late Paul Tiberii.
Calling hours Monday, July 14th, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 15th, at 10 a.m., at the Wilmington Congregational Church, 220 Middlesex Avenue, Wilmington. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
