Obituary

Evelyn (Starr) Skiddell, a lifelong resident of Chelsea, entered into eternal rest on July 11, 2008 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 79 years old & the beloved wife of 59 years to Jack Skiddell.

Born in the Roxbury section of Boston, Mrs. Skiddell was the daughter of the late Joseph & Sarah (Tenovsky) Starr. She was raised & educated in Chelsea where she graduated from Chelsea High School. For many years she was employed as a cashier for the Stop & Shop Company in their Chelsea supermarkets. Mrs. Skiddell’s true vocation & love was being a cherished wife, mother, & grandmother. In addition to her devotion to her family, she also enjoyed playing Mah Jong & bridge, watching game shows, & camping. She was a longtime member of the Orange St. Shule in Chelsea.

In addition to her beloved husband, Mrs. Skiddell is survived by her children, Rabbi Elliot Skiddell & his wife, Julie of Hewlett, N.Y. & Carcom, Israel, Sandra Phillips & her husband William of Douglas, Joseph Skiddell & his wife Jacqueline of Saugus, Marci Elman & her husband Steven of East Bridgewater, Lauri Rawls & her husband James of Peabody, & Yona Bollinger & her husband Wolf of Brooklyn, NY; her cherished grandchildren, Joshua, Sarit, Elanit, Lindsey, Noam, Chad, Jessica, Seth, Moshe Yisrael, Miriam, & Rebecca; & her brother, Jack Starr & his wife Irma of Tamarac, FL. She was the sister of the late Philip Starr, Larry Starr, Leonard Starr, & Selma Gould.

Funeral services will be held in the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave. (Cary Sq) CHELSEA on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Rabbi Nochum Cywiak of Cong. Agudas Shalom & Cong. Ahavas Achim Anshe Sfard will officiate. Burial will follow in the Agudas Shalom Cemetery, Everett. Memorial observance will be held at the home of family friends, Laurie Taraskiewicz & Victoria Mazza, Chelsea immediately following the burial on Sunday, & at the home of Marci & Steven Elman, East Bridgewater through Wednesday evening.
