Emily (Pimentel) Costa, 74, of South Dartmouth passed away Friday, July 11, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of John Costa with whom she spent 53 years by his side.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Byron and Philomena (Souza) Pimentel, she was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth. Mrs. Costa was a graduate of Dartmouth High School. Known to many as “Nana” she helped and took care of many people throughout her life time. She will be sadly missed by friends and family. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, and a CNA doing home health care for many people over the years.
Including her husband, she is survived by 6 children: John Jr. of KS, James and his wife Donna of Dartmouth, Jeffrey and his wife Susan of Dartmouth, Joel and his wife Lynne of FL, Jordan of Westport and Joyce Faria and her husband Kirk of Dartmouth; 12 grandchildren: Jeffrey, Jr., Joel, Jr., Jennifer and her husband Wayne, Jason, Rachael and her husband Joshua, Nikki, Stephanie, Kirk Matthew, Joshua, Kyle, Jordan, Jr. and Kevin; 2 great grandchildren: Owen and Hailee; several nieces and nephews; 2 sister-in-laws: Claire Costa of Dartmouth and Jean Pimentel of New Bedford; and a brother-in-law: Richard Sylvia of Dartmouth.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Potter Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. with visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. prior to the service.
