Obituary

Hugh Daniel “Dan” McGonagle of Plymouth, passed away on July 10th at Jordan Hospital at the age of 83. He is survived by his beloved wife Jeanne (Kimball) of Plymouth and his loving children Hugh D. McGonagle Jr. and his wife Maryann of Wareham, Edward McGonagle and his spouse Frank Koziel of Plymouth, Cecelia McGonagle of Plymouth, Theresa Sharpe and her husband Edward of Wareham, Joseph McGonagle and his wife Janet of Las Vegas, Karen McGuinness and her husband Richard of Plymouth, William McGonagle and his wife Karen of Plymouth, Janet Constantino and her husband David of Franklin and Paula Smith and her husband Robert of FL. He also leaves his sisters Teresa Russell and Anna Walsh both of West Roxbury, his brother Francis of Jamaica Plain, 24 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Mary Jeanne and brother of the late John, Edward, James, Joseph McGonagle and Katherine Gaynor. Hugh served in the U.S Navy during WWII and was a police officer for the City of Boston for 28 years. He graduated from Boston Tech and was a former member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, the Elks and he was an avid golfer, making junior pro and played at Franklin Park in Boston and George Wright in Hyde Park. Hugh was a devoted family man and loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held on Monday July 14th at St. Bonaventure’s Church in Plymouth at 10 AM followed by burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in W. Roxbury. Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd. (Rt. 3A), Plymouth (Manomet) on Sunday July 13th from 4 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Jordan Hospital C/O 2 East B. Nurses, 275 Sandwich St, Plymouth, MA 02360.
