Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Aurora “Rory” (Baptiste) Dorman, 84, died Monday, July 7, 2008 in the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Fred E. Dorman, who died in October of 1974.
Born in Gloucester on July 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Isabelle (Ferreira) Baptiste. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester.
Rory was employed as a fish packer at Gorton’s of Gloucester for ten years until her retirement. She had also once worked at the former A & P Grocery Store and on the Gloucester waterfront for many years. She loved the company of her grandchildren and especially her great-grandson, Jarrod. She also loved spending time with her sister, Mary, going to lunch, movies, dance classes and plays in Boston. She was an animal lover, especially cats and enjoyed walking all over Gloucester. She was a former member of the Ucita Council No. 46, Degree of Pocahontas.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Pamela J. and Jason Polisson of Gloucester and Denise A. LaPointe of Beverly, four grandchildren, Jill DiLiberti and her companion, Daniel Russell of Gloucester, Jason DiLiberti of Lynn, Matthew LaPointe of Maine, and Bryan LaPointe of Beverly, a great-grandson, Jarrod Martin of Gloucester, a sister, Mary Marchant of Gloucester and four nieces and a nephew. She was also predeceased by a sister, Lenore Oliver, and four brothers, Andrew, Joseph, Manuel and Theodore Baptiste.
A memorial service will be held on Friday in the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 292 Washington St., Gloucester at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
