Butler, of W. Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, December 26, 2001, Catherine M. (Corcoran) Butler, 91 years. Beloved mother of C. Anne Butler of W. Bridgewater, Edward J. Butler and his wife Jean of Lincolnville, Maine, and Judie Corayer and her husband David of Brockton. Grandmother of David, Stephen, Leah and James Butler, and Carole, Kristin, Michael and Leanne Corayer. She also leaves two great grandchildren Hannah and Kanan Butler.
Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Saturday at 9am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Obituary Information
Mrs. Butler died Wednesday morning at Tobey Hospital in Wareham after a period of failing health. Born in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Timothy A. and Catherine (Lucy) Corcoran. She had been a resident of Brockton for 89 years before moving to West Bridgewater. She was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1928, graduating with perfect attendance. She had worked for Keith Shoe in Brockton and then worked in the Welfare Office at Brockton City Hall and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on Commercial Street retiring in 1979 as a social worker. She had been a member of the 20th Century Catholic Club and a member of their bowling team. A member of Massachusetts Association of Retired State Employees, Stonehill College Guild, and American Association of Retired Persons. Mrs. Butler enjoyed music and the Brockton Public Schools Music Program and Performing Arts. She herself was a pianist. She enjoyed spending her summers in Marshfield and Cape Cod.
She is survived by 2 daughters C. Anne Butler of W. Bridgewater, and Judie Corayer of Brockton and 1 son Edward J. Butler of Lincolnville, Maine.8 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
She was the sister of the late Charles and Ernest Corcoran, Agnes Powers and Mabel Brennan
