Marie DeLoach Senter, 89, Clarksville, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at her daughter's residence. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Humboldt, TN Saturday, July 19, 2008 following the visitation which will begin at 2:00 p.m.. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born March 23, 1919, in Madison County, TN. Mrs Senter was the daughter of Wilbon Moore DeLoach and Lucy Jane Smith DeLoach. She graduated from Pope High School and was a member of Harris Grove United Methodist Church in Madison County. Mrs. Senter married James Neill Senter in 1944, and lived in Humboldt for forty years, rearing two children, Suellen Senter, a teacher in the Montgomery County School System, and David Neill Senter, of Portland, Oregon. Mrs. Senter survived Mr. Neill, who died in April, 1974. Mrs.Senter has been a lifelong Christian and Bible scholar. She taught Sunday School about sixty years including: Harris Grove Church in Madison County, First United Methodist Church in Humboldt, and Sango United Methodist Church in Clarksville. Through the years, Mrs. Senter has worked in church projects from making quilts to sell to putting on Methodist suppers. She has been a lifelong prayer warrior for all of those she knew and loved. She enjoyed the last years of her life at Sango among ministers and friends that made her feel welcome at her new church. God indeed blessed Marie Senter with a long, busy life, happily situated both in Humboldt with her family and later with Suellen in Clarksville. She is survived by her daughter, her son, one brother, Smith H. DeLoach, in Iowa, one sister, Mrs Jane DeLoach Walker, of Jackson, Tennessee, and by many nieces and nephews.
