Obituary

Wesley A. Carpenter Jr., a retired Everett Firefighter and lifelong resident of Everett, died on Sunday July 6, 2008 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a lenghty illness. He was 84 years old.

Wes was born in Everett, he grew up in Everett, where he attended Everett Public Schools and graduated from Everett Vocational High School in 1942. He enlisted into the United States Navy in 1942 and served his country during World War 2. He was discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1946. He joined the Everett Fire Department in 1951 and was assigned to Engine Company 3 and later on in the dispatch center for the Everett Fire Department. He retired from the Everett Fire Department in 1981 and later worked throughout Everett as an independent electrical contractor. Wes was a member of The Everett Fire Department Union Local # 1656 and The Everett American Legion Post # 0176.

Wes is the beloved husband of the late Regina (Aspell) Carpenter. He is the devoted father of John Carpenter and his wife Jerri of California, Marie Hersey and her husband Mark of Rhode Island, Joanne Ellard and her husband David of Everett and Sherry Robbins and her husband Tom of Merrimac. He is the loving grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of the late Evelyn Frederick and Marie Carpenter. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Wes's Funeral will be held on Thursday July 10, 2008 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Service in The Chapel of Woodlawn Cemetery, 302 Elm St. Everett at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Wes will be on Wednesday July 9, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
