Ruth Helen Morse (nee MacLean) died at age 89 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine after a long and courageous struggle. Ruth was a longtime resident of Melrose. She was a graduate of Medford High School.She was the widow of Thomas Morse, a former teacher, coach and administrator in the Winchester Public Schools.Ruth was Secretary to the VP at American Mutual Co. in Wakefield before retiring in the 1980s. For many years after her husband died, she traveled with her sister, brother in law and dear friends. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and Aunt. Until the end, she retained her wonderful sense of humor, with a twinkle in her eye and a thank you to everyone. She was predeceased by her 2 sisters, Thelma Crossman and Audrey Fraser of Melrose. She leaves 3 children, Judy Smith and her husband Mark of Woolwich, Maine, Coline Morse of New York City, Thomas Morse and his wife Caroline of Melrose. She leaves 7 grandchildren, Steven and his wife Alisa Smith of Wiscasset, Maine, Kristen and Glenn Walling of Hopkinton, NH, Joshua and Jenn Chenoweth of Port Angeles, Washington, Satya Buch and her fiance Harold Chaves, Misha Morse-Buch and his wife, Evija both of New York City, Tommy and Jenna Morse of Melrose. She also leaves 5 great grandchildren, Alyssa, Sammy, Jacob, Clara and Lola and several nieces and nephews whose love, laughter and support kept all of us going through this long journey. The family greeted friends, Saturday, July 12, 2008, from 12:30 to 2PM at the Beals Geake Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Ave. Medford. Her funeral service was held in the funeral home at 2 PM. Internment was in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
