Joyce Akins Register, 81, of Enigma died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2008, at Enigma Baptist Church. Rev. Pete Jones and Rev. Steve Hand will officiate with burial to follow in Enigma City Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 6, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Register was born on March 20, 1927 in Polk County, Florida and was the daughter of Roy Akins and Audrey Henderson Akins, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Colan Conger Register, Jr. She was retired from J. P. Stevens and was a member of Enigma Baptist Church.
Mrs. Register is survived by one son, David Register of Valdosta; one daughter, Dale Bohannon of Ashburn; two brothers, Jimmy Akins of Enigma and Harold Akins of Dublin; and two sisters, Sue Copeland of Enigma and Peggy Lastinger of Brunswick; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
