Esther (Stroud) Magoun, 94, died, Friday July 4th in the Baypointe Nursing & Rehabilitation in Brockton, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Kenneth A Magoun. Esther was born in Dedham and brought up in Duxbury; she was the daughter of the late Perry V. and Elizabeth K. Stroud. She was a graduate of Duxbury High School and the Chandler School. Esther was a Dictaphone Operator for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Boston,
Esther was past matron of the Hatherly Chapter, O .E. S.: member of Pilgrim Chapter, O.E.S. ,past president of the Rainbow Mothers Club. She enjoyed sewing & crafts and won several prize ribbons at the Marshfield Fair.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol L. Schwartz of Boston, her son Peter A Magoun and his wife Maryann of Dunbarton, NH., her sister Mary Redman of Westland, MI :many nieces and nephews and grand nephews. She was also the sister of the late Eleanor Peacock, Richard Stroud, Jean Gorrill, Margery Hopkins and mother-in-law of the late Daniel Schwartz.
Her services will be held Wednesday July 9th at 10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury, MA. Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 8th from 5:00-7:00PM
