Obituary

Rudyard Kipling (R.K.) Roberts, 95, Clarksville, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sango Cemetery with Dr. Billy T. Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born April 3, 1913 in Montgomery County son of the late J.P. (Jack) Roberts and Devona Foust Roberts. Mr. Roberts was named after Rudyard Kipling, the English poet, a family friend of his father. He was a retired home builder, farmer, and grocery store owner. He served in the US Army during WW II. Mr. Roberts was a lifetime resident of Sango community and a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Corinne Russell Roberts, and two brothers, Marvin and J.P. Roberts. Survivors include a son, Larry Roberts, a brother Joe Roberts, a sister Christine Thomas, and a special niece, Billie Perry. Pallbearers will be Jack Roberts, Eddie Black, Brent Buddenhagen, Jimmy MacDanz, Jackie Thomas, Ronny Powers, Albert Norris, Dave MacDanz, and Mac Beals. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Roberts, John D. Russell, Dr. Robert Hudson, Ben Shearron, Larry Richardson, James Cage, Mark Perry, and Michael Perry. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Association for the Blind, 422 South Clinton Avenue, Rochester, New York 14620-1198 or to the Thomas Jacob Perry Memorial Scholarship Fund, University Advancement Office, APSU P.O.
