WEBSTER - Stanley J. Grudzien, 85, of 6 Goodness Street, died Tuesday, July 1, in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness. His wife of 61 years, Mary A. (St.Germain) Grudzien, died in 2005.
He leaves a son, Gerald S. Gruzdien, Sr., of Webster; two grandsons, Gerald S. Grudzien, Jr. and his wife Leanne of Brooklyn, CT and Jason G. Grudzien and his wife Renee of Singer, LA;
two great grandchildren, Rylee Grudzien and Hannah G. Grudzien; a brother, Edward Grudzien of Southbridge; nephews and nieces. He was awaiting the birth of his third great grandchild in July.
He was born in Sturbridge, the son of John and Katherine (Poremska) Grudzien. He moved to Webster in 1946. He graduated from Cole Trade High School in Southbridge in 1940.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946.
Mr. Grudzien was a plumber at the American Woolen Mills and then for 30 years for Kindler Plumbing Company before retiring in 1984. He was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica.
The funeral will be held Monday, July 7, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will provide the military honors. A calling period will be from 8:45 to 9:45 AM Monday, July 7, in the funeral home.
