Susan Best Breakell, 60, of Auburn, NH died unexpectedly June 25th at home. Susan had a debilitating illness that limited her physical activities for the past several years. Susan was born in Attleboro, MA. She was a graduate of Norton High School and Endicott College. After marrying Larry Breakell, Susan spent her adult years establishing Sutter Creek Kennel in Norton. She had an outstanding career as a breeder, trainer, handler and judge of Golden Retrievers. Susan's line of Sutter Creek Goldens were not only bred for show but always for personality. Among Sutter Creek's several champions was "Charade" who Susan owned and showed in 1971 to number one Golden Retriever in the country in obedience. When Susan moved to Auburn, NH she established a new location for her goldens - Sutter Creek Farm.
Susan is survived by her parents, Robert and Nancy Best of Norton and siblings Tracy Grilli and husband David of Londonderry, NH, Kim Kephart and husband Chris of Highland Village, TX and Michael Best of Princeton, ME. She is also survived by four nephews and three nieces.
At Susan's prior request there will be no visiting hours or funeral. Burial will be a private family ceremony. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH is in charge of the arrangements.
