Obituary

William J. Williamson Sr., 92, of 19 Rolling Ridge Road, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, in Milford Regional Medical Center, following a long illness. He was the husband of the late Helen B. (Belany) Williamson, who died in 2005.

Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., Feb. 27, 1916, a son of the late Harold and Anne (Mascik) Williamson, he was raised and educated in New Jersey, and lived in New Port Richey, Fla., for several years, until relocating to Franklin in 2006.
He was a retired government employee, having worked for the U.S. Government for more than 25 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attained the rank of yeoman 1st class and was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in December 1945. He also served in the U.S. Army before his naval service.
His hobbies and interests included travel and sports.
He is survived by a son, William J. Williamson Jr., and a daughter, Diane Alexander, both of Franklin; and two grandchildren.
His services, with military honors, will be held Wednesday, July 9, at 10 a.m., at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
