Obituary

Alton Charles Beaudoin, “Curly”, a resident of Aaron Manor in Chester, CT went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2003. He was formerly a longtime resident of Mystic, CT.

Born in Whitehall, NY on January 19, 1913, he was the son of the late Samuel and Emma Ashley Beaudoin. He was raised in Whitehall and Kent, Ohio. With his wife and family, he also resided in Angola, Indiana and Saginaw, Michigan before moving to Mystic.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ethel, also an Aaron Manor resident, two sons, Thomas of Jewett City, CT and James of Chester, CT, five grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Adam, Brenda, and David, and two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Christa.

Mr. Beaudoin had an interesting life, having visited 49 countries of the world. He was a professional boxer in his youth, once rated 10th in the Featherweight Division. Then joining the Merchant Marine, he achieved the rank of 3rd Mate after 9 years, and taught Life Boat Knowledge and Marlinspike Seamanship. He was a decorated World War II combat veteran of the South Pacific being awared the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars. He retired from General Dynamics/Electric Boat in 1976, and was then able to more vigorously pursue his lifelong hobby of knot tying. He and Ethel also vacationed many winters on Big Pine Key in Florida.

A Memorial Service for friends and family will be announced at a later date. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to “Our Daily Bread” Publishers, RBC Ministries, P. O. Box 2222, Grand Rapids MI 49501.
